If you would like to play, please enter your name against the date in the doodle poll below. We are using this so that people can see if it is worthwhile going down to the courts or not on a particular day, so check back to see if anyone else is planning to play.

East of Scotland Leagues

East of Scotland League Season Ends

Three Dalkeith teams competed in the Senior leagues, and after a fantastic effort all three teams won their leagues and gained promotion!

Men 1 won Division 5B and will compete in Division 4 next season.

Men 2 won Division 9 and will compete in Division 8 next season.

Ladies won Division 7B and will compete in Division 6 next season.

This was the first time DLTC have entered a Ladies team, and it was a excellent effort by all to win the league in their first time out.

We also had our first ever Junior team compete in the Junior leagues, with the Boys 14 & Under winning their final two matches in Division 2B, which bodes very well for the future.

A big thank you to our team captains: Ricky Smith (Men 1), Frank O'Donnell (Men 2), Ruth Sutherland (Ladies) and Angus Scott (Boys 14 & Under).

The next competitive matches for Dalkeith will be two Senior teams taking part in the East Lothian League. This starts on July 6 with a home match of Dalkieth A v Dalkeith B - come down to watch!

For pictures of the celebrations and from the matches, see our Facebook page.

DLTCs 3rd Annual Mini Tennis Tournament

Adult members are invited to attend DLTCs 3rd Annual Mini Tennis Tournament.

On Saturday 13th June from 1pm onwards we will be running an Adult Mini Tennis Tournament at the club. This will be a fun tournament for all abilities.

For those who don’t know about mini tennis, it’s played using smaller courts, small nets, and slower balls and can provide a great workout!

The general plan at this time is to run the tournament as doubles - pairings will be randomly drawn from all entrants. The tournament will be a round robin, or similar, to ensure plenty of play. The final tournament plan will be confirmed once the final number of entrants is known so sign up is necessary

To enter please click the below sign up link. The sign up is limited so will be first come first served.

MINI TENNIS SIGNUP

Tick signup, then click ‘submit and signup’ at the bottom. The only information you need to provide is your name and email. So it should only take a few seconds to book yourself in.
Signup will close on Friday 12th June – 6pm.

Once again, this is will be a fun, social tournament and everyone is encouraged to enter.

Any questions just ask Gareth!

May Events‏

American Tournament - Saturday 16th May - 1.30pm
Marion Allan Final - Saturday 30th May - 2:00pm
Quiz Night - Saturday 30th May - 7:30pm - see poster below
On Saturday 16th May we’ll be having an American Tournament instead of the usual social afternoon. The emphasis will still be firmly on the social, but with just a bit more structure than a normal club afternoon.
The final format will depend on the numbers, but the basics are that we will draw the pairings from a hat and you’ll stick with your partner throughout the afternoon. There will be a round-robin section, with some form of cross-ties or knock-out element at the end. Each match will just be four games so it will be quick-fire stuff.
To make sure everyone gets a decent amount of games, entry will be limited to a maximum of 24. I’ve put a doodle link below and there will also be a sign-up sheet in the clubhouse. Sign-up will close at 7pm on Thursday 14th, or whenever we get the 24 entries, so that we can draw the pairings in advance and get a quick start on the day.
The tournament will start at 1-30 so please be there in plenty time.
If we get the maximum of 24, everyone will play at least six matches and we should be done in under three hours, so there will still be time for people to stay on longer.
Please feel free to bring cakes - American-themed preferred, but not essential.
Have a nice day!
(And hope to see you at the quiz night too!)

Opening Day this Saturday (11th April)

Hello Everyone! Just a note to say that we are hoping to open on Saturday, 11 April at 2pm, weather permitting as always!

Please do come down if you can. The courts and Club in general are looking in very good shape and our thanks are due to the Committee, together with one or two others, for all the hard work that has gone on over the winter months to achieve this. The court watering system is now in place and functioning well. On behalf of the Club I would like to thank George Archibald, our Honorary President, for his vision and long-term planning in suggesting this idea some years ago. Also, huge thanks are due to John Slater and Gareth Stewart who worked extremely hard in putting together the Planning Application. This has all been brought to a successful conclusion and has been signed off by the Council. Lastly, our thanks are due to one of our long standing members, who wishes to remain anonymous, who made a considerable financial contribution to the cost of this installation. Lastly, welcome back to all members and a particularly warm welcome to any new members who are joining us this year. I trust the lovely weather we have been experiencing over the last few days continues and takes us right through to the Autumn! Have a great tennis season. Kind regards to you all
