ADULT 'CLUB TEAM LEVEL' COACHING SESSIONS - Booking Essential!

We had an excellent response to the previous offer of coaching at Improver Level, so we have negotiated 4 x Monday evenings - 5, 12, 19 and 26 August 2013 at a higher skills level of coaching from Bruce Beadle. 

This block of coaching is aimed at adult members who are already Club Team players or those who aspire to join a B team. NB participation in this coaching block does not guarantee selection for club team play. It is offered as an opportunity to provide you with relevant skills.

Professional tennis coach Bruce Beadle is providing adult coaching Mondays 5-26 August from 18.30 – 20.00 at DLTC.

The cost for the block of 4 sessions is £32.00.  You must be able to play on all four Monday evenings in August (no refund if unable to play).  Any postponement due to weather will be notified by 17.30 on the day and another session will be substituted.

ALL players are welcome - male and female. A usual Saturday social tennis hit with the Wimbledon Ladies final, Pimms, strawberries and cream + other refreshments from 13.30 onwards.

ESLTA LEAGUE 7 CHAMPS 2013!

Well done to our first team players (see pic below) who recently clinched the ESLTA Division 7 title this year. The team also were unbeaten and will now have been promoted 3 years in a row. A fantastic achievement and well done to all of the players who played for the 1st team this season.

Well done also to the 2nd team who finished 3rd in Division 9. A fantastic result for a new team playing in the League for the first time. It has been a great learning experience for all of the players and this will put them in good shape for next season. Well done to all the players who contributed to the 2nd team this year.

JUNIOR SUMMER CAMPS 2013 14th - 16th AUGUST

We are now taking applications for this years Summer Camps. The camps will take place between 14th and 16th August. Please note that we will be taking applications from non members, so get your application in as soon as possible as places are limited. Postponed - Cake and Candy

The Cake and Candy day planned for Sat 25th May has been postponed. Apologies...but it will return bigger and better than before!

Junior-Senior Tournament - Sunday 2nd June

We are now taking sign-ups for the Junior-Senior Day on Sunday June 2nd. You can sign-up by emailing Alice (themalapropof79@hotmail.com) or on the notice-board poster in the clubhouse (from Thursday 16th May).

We are splitting the event into two so that all juniors can get involved. Adult members are encouraged to come along to both sessions - both will be lots of fun and we promise nibbles and prizes!

Details below:

9.45 - 11.00: 'fun and games' - reds & oranges. Tennis games with lots of prizes! (including adult skittles!)

11.00-13.00: 'Junior-Senior' handicap tournament - greens & yellows. Junior members will be paired up with an adult player for a quick-fire doubles tournament. Draw will be taken on the day.

Both sessions are free to club members. Adult non-members (i.e. parents who want to get involved) £2.00 each (payable on the day).

*Please note that this will be in place of junior coaching on Sunday 2nd June. Juniors are required to sign-up to this event.

Quiz night on Saturday (May 18th), drinks at 7.30, quiz starts at 8. All welcome! St David's Church Hall, Dalkeith. Tickets £3 from social committee at clubhouse or on the door on the night (kids go free). BYOB, pizzas at half-time. (rvsp if you can't pick a ticket up beforehand so we make sure there is enough pizza!)

2013 Social Events!

This year we have a calendar of social events for your diary - see the events page for the dates and details.

The first event of the season is the Quiz Night, Sat 18th May, St David's Church Hall, 8pm+ with our very own Quizmaster...
Tickets are £3 per adult, kids go free, families and friends are very welcome, inc. wii-tennis games, BYOB - tickets can be purchased from the social committee (Clare, Joan & Alice)

There is also the promise of pizza...more info to follow!

There are a variety of events planned - from fun tournaments and finals day refreshments to our annual dinner in November - hope to see you at some of the events this year!

Club opens Saturday 20th April

The Tennis Club will re-open for the season this Saturday. There will be an Open morning (10 - 12 noon) for any Juniors who are interested in playing tennis. Children are welcome to come along to try out tennis, play some fun games, meet other junior members and learn more about the Junior sections activities. Free refreshments will be provided.

The afternoon (2pm onwards) will also be an Open session, where non members who may be interested in joining the Club can come down to play with members or just have a drink and a chat to learn more about the Club.

The forecast is good, so come on down!

Final Tidy Up!

Thanks to everyone who came along on the 9th for the last tidy up. The weather defeated most of us (but not all, with some notable exceptions!) 

Our final tidy and clean before opening in April will be Saturday 13 April at 11.00am. 

If you could spare an hour or two to help get the club ship shape for the new season, that would be great.Wearing old clothes recommended.

Tennis Club Tidy Up: 9th March

Many thanks to those who turned up last Saturday to help with tidying up around the courts and the line preparations.  Good jobs, well done.

We had planned a second session this Saturday (02/03) however, the date has been changed and we're now going to meet again on Saturday 9th March at 11.00am.  As before, wear old work clothes and gloves.

New Season News!

The countdown to the start of the new season continues! Membership renewal forms are now available on the website, please complete these as soon as possible. The dates for this years League matches are now on the Calendar and with 2 Dalkeith teams competing this year we are in for some exciting ties. We also have a Scottish Cup entry this year and the tie is on 10th April against Blackhall. Further details of where the tie will be played will follow shortly. Work is well under way in preparing the courts for a scheduled opening date of 20th April.

Junior Winter Indoor Sessions – Newbattle High School

Commencing Sunday 20^th January

As part of the Newbattle Sports Hub initiative we have been given the opportunity to run some Junior coaching sessions at Newbattle High School on Sunday mornings commencing 20^th January through to the end of March.

We will be running 2 sessions which will be suitable for our mini red, orange and green players. The times are as follows:

Mini Red/Mini Orange:         10am – 11am

Mini Green:                          11am – 12noon

I will require players to sign up for a six week block of sessions and the bargain cost of the 6 weeks will be £12!

Can you please let me know if you are interested as soon as possible as this initiative is also open to non Club members. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis and I would require payment in full at the first session.
